North East housebuilder buys Gateshead land for 185 home development
A North East housebuilder is progressing plans to create a 185 home development with the purchase of land in Gateshead.
Avant Homes, based in Chesterfield, has successfully purchased a piece of land near High Spen village in preparation for the new £33m development.
Work on the development will start later this year, with showhomes expected to be ready in spring 2021.
The 16-acre site, on Collingdon Roadwill, will take approximately four and a half years to complete.
In addition to providing new homes for High Spen, Avant Homes will also contribute upwards of £1m towards local infrastructure, highway improvements and apprenticeship schemes.
Jennifer Tupman, North East regional director at Avant Homes, commented: “We are thrilled to have moved forward with this purchase of land as part of our latest development in High Spen and we are now preparing to start the initial groundworks later in the year.
“With its excellent transport links and highly-commended schools, this area is becoming an increasingly desirable place to live due to its location and nearby amenities and the delivery of our high-quality, new-build homes will make a significant contribution to the area’s wider community growth plans.
“We look forward to announcing our first homes for sale in autumn 2021.”
