Council’s free ‘plug and play’ tech suite builds digital business skills across South Tyneside

A free, state of the art, digital content suite in the heart of the vibrant tech community in South Tyneside is open for business in South Tyneside Council’s fully serviced business centre One Trinity Green, South Shields.

Housing the latest podcasting, lighting and video equipment, the One Trinity Green Content Suite is a fully equipped studio open to any business in South Tyneside wishing to create and capture audio or visual content in an agile, user friendly way.

This dedicated space contains dimmable LED video studio lighting; broadcast dynamic microphones and a pro podcast production studio. Businesses can book to use the ‘plug and play’ studio free of charge.

Those who are new to creating digital content are also able to access specialist coaching and mentoring, to develop digital skills to support business growth in the borough. This free training will initially be offered online.

Online training will be delivered on behalf of South Tyneside Council by Ian Farrar (Founder of Far North Ltd), who represented the UK at International podcast day 2018 and hosts the popular Industry Angel Business Podcast. Ian will discuss podcast creation, platforms and provide a fast track through the many technicalities of creating a successful show. Invest South Tyneside, the sector development and business investment team within South Tyneside Council, will also share useful business-related content that is produced, providing an additional outlet to help businesses in the borough reach a B2B audience.

Councillor John Anglin, Lead Member for Regeneration and Economy said: “We are delighted to be able to open the Content Suite at One Trinity Green. We already have a number of businesses wanting to book sessions to use the equipment and software within the suite and have had a lot of interest in our online training.

“In line with current government guidance against COVID-19, two sessions will be available per day for businesses to book for their exclusive use, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. This enables us to ensure that the suite can be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between users.”

The Content Suite at One Trinity Green can be hired free of charge. Interested businesses can contact the Reception team at One Trinity Green.

Vicki Morrison, Managing Director of Safesol has recently completed a training session:

“I will be able to implement what I used in my business. Having done the podcast training I am keen to look at producing more video content for the business.

“I think that it important for businesses to have information about getting their message out there using all types of social media. This was a great introduction.

“Ian is great on this subject as he has practical experience. A lot easier learning from someone who has done something than someone who has just learned the theory.”
