First Base and Wired Sussex join forces to support the growth of region’s gaming sector
First Base, the company responsible for the new Edward Street Quarter development, has partnered with Wired Sussex in support of its campaign to put Greater Brighton on the map as the best place in the UK for games production.
Wired Sussex’s campaign aims to build the national and international profile of the Sussex games community to attract the investment and talent they need to continue their growth.
The partnership with First Base will enable Wired Sussex to achieve its goals via a schedule of activity including a tailored events programme and a research report to establish the barriers to growth that games studios face and the support they need to overcome them.
Phil Jones, Managing Director at Wired Sussex, explained:* “Our regional games cluster is extremely successful. It’s made up of studios that, together, sell tens of millions of console, mobile and PC games across the globe. We are delighted to be working with First Base to showcase the world class studios here in Sussex, helping them to attract talent and raise their profile.” *
Olaide Oboh, Director of Partnerships at First Base, commented:* “We identified Wired Sussex as an ideal partner and are excited to be working with them to raise the profile of the region’s burgeoning gaming sector.*
“Our Edward Street Quarter development will be a new neighbourhood in central Brighton filled with creative tech companies. Our hope is that it will become a new hub for gaming studios to create, collaborate and grow together.“
