Health and Safety specialist launches free Covid-19 Compliance Checker for SMEs
York-based Pro Safety Management has launched a free phone consultation and 69-step Covid-19 Compliance Checker for businesses across a range of sectors.
The health and safety consultancy has been helping businesses and organisations complete Covid-19 risk assessments since March, including Make it York, surveying firm Building Validation Solutions and Selby Town Council.
Pro Safety Management is offering companies a free phone consultation regarding their Covid-19 processes along with access to its 69-step guide to becoming health and safety compliant. The compliance checker is designed to help SMEs check they are fulfilling their duties in relation to the pandemic across hygiene and cleaning, workspaces, vehicles and transportation, employee mental wellbeing, communications and procedures.
Alex Burbidge is the lead consultant at Pro Safety Management and previously held the position of Group Head of Health and Safety at Telefonica O2. He said: “These are unprecedented times and rules are changing frequently, so it can be difficult for businesses without a designated internal health and safety resource to know whether they are acting correctly – which of course can have major financial repercussions. I wanted to offer some advice and guidance and to create something simple to help businesses easily check their plans and actions against a compliance checklist.
“Every business faces different limitations and obstacles, which is why we have been very busy during the last few months helping organisations with risk assessments and advice. Retail, both in the traditional bricks and mortar sense and as outdoor markets, have had to adapt very quickly as, of course have offices, with not everyone able to work remotely. And even for those who can work from home there are still health and safety responsibilities held by the employer which need to be considered.”
One of the organisations Pro Safety Management has been helping is economic development group Make It York. Russell McCartney, Head of Commercial & Revenue Generation at Make It York, said: “We brought Pro Safety Management in to help with some consultancy and Covid-19 Risk Assessments. It has been spectacularly challenging times, so it’s important to have expert advice from someone who can adapt their approach dependent upon audience and has the skill to explain complex issues in a simple manner which helps drive positive change.”
