Personal trainer launches online fitness and wellbeing membership for mums
A Calderdale-based personal trainer, who has worked with mums and mums-to-be for over a decade, is launching a new online membership community to support women on their health and fitness journey through motherhood.
Sharon Porter is offering a range of fitness and wellbeing programmes, along with expert and peer support, which mums and mums-to-be can access from the comfort of their own homes, whether in Siddal or Sydney.
The monthly membership will be split into three distinct groups, allowing mums and mums-to-be to build relationships with those at the same stage of motherhood. Fit 4 Bump will cater for mums-to be in the second and third trimester of pregnancy. New mums of babies aged up to one-year old will form the Post Baby Kickstart group and Active Mums will be for mums with children aged over one-year-old.
The membership will feature a wide range of fitness and wellbeing classes for both mum and baby. Aimed at helping women reconnect with themselves in mind, body and spirit during and after the arrival of children, on-demand classes will instantly available along with live classes delivered by Sharon and guest experts and streamed into the group. New content will be added every month with classes including fitness, strength and recovery sitting alongside breathing techniques and sleep workshops as well as a range of resources.
Sharon Porter, founder of Sharon Porter Fitness, said: “The support on offer will go beyond fitness. Whilst fitness offers many benefits for physical and mental health, I wanted to bring in other experts to offer the whole package of holistic support. We’ll cover everything from pregnancy journaling and meditation to yoga, nutrition and baby massage, and more.
“The community aspect of the membership will also allow mums to build those crucial relationships and support systems with those at the same stage of motherhood.”
The membership for mums is a natural next step for Sharon who co-authored the number one bestseller The Warrior Wellbeing Toolkit, covering the topic of self-identity and its role in mental health for women. Sharon’s contribution to the book centres on Perinatal Mental Health - the period during pregnancy and the first year after birth.
Sharon has worked as a personal trainer for over 10 years and established Buggy 4 Fitness in 2013 after training her sister one-to-one after the birth of her first child, and again when her second child arrived. Sharon spotted a gap in the market for exercise classes for new mums, particularly those where the children can come along too.
Sharon has always loved exercise and sport - having taken part in just about every physical activity available to her since childhood. As well as being on the football, netball, hockey and rugby teams at school, she fell in love with Karate and represented her country in the sport. Her black belt martial arts skills form some of her training programmes today.
Sharon Porter said: “Launching Fit 4 Bump, Post Baby Kickstart and Active Mums online allows me to offer a package of support for mums that will help with both physical and mental health wherever they are in the country, or the world! So they can access the benefits of health, wellness and fitness whenever and wherever is best for them.”
