Voneus announced as flagship sponsor of Bishop Auckland FC

Bishop Auckland to become a regional hub for the rural broadband provider’s North East growth strategy

22 October, 2020 – Voneus, the rural community broadband specialist, today announced its sponsorship of Bishop Auckland Football Club in County Durham. The sponsorship is a significant boost for the Northern League team and will strengthen Voneus’ presence in the area, as the company looks to connect large parts of the rural North East to superfast, reliable broadband speeds.

Bishop Auckland FC is one of the oldest and most renowned amateur football clubs in England and is a member of the Northern League Division One. The Club is home to a tight-knit, grassroots community and hosts regular events, charity and fundraising initiatives. During the pandemic, the Club opened its gates to allow residents and fans to meet in a safe environment, with a catering hut providing temporary funds for the Club. Voneus’ sponsorship now gives much-needed support to the Club, which will go towards training, improving facilities, developing resources and attracting talent to achieve promotion.

As the club’s major commercial partner, Voneus will support local engagement programmes, enabling locals and fans to engage with the Club and the wider community. It will make the Club more accessible to its vast supporter base, many of whom can only join matches played in the newly renamed Voneus Stadium via livestream. The company will also set up a regional hub for its rural broadband operations in Bishop Auckland to underpin its customer growth in the North East.
