Bike subscription platform reports 121% spike in sales first week of lockdown as it appoints new tech leads

London-based bike subscription platform Buzzbike has appointed a Head of Engineering and lead product designer as the company recently reported a 121% spike in sales in the first week of lockdown and enters into its next phase of growth.

Launched in 2016 Buzzbike recently secured a further £1.7M of funding in its latest round from a variety of sources, including the UK government’s The Future Fund, and sports tech accelerator leAD.

Shaun Stanworth joins Buzzbike as Head of Engineering with a wealth of experience in growth-stage businesses, having previously worked at companies such as Freeformers, Onefinestay and Fronted. Over his career, he has developed products in conjunction with and used by some of the world’s leading organisations, including Facebook, Google, HSBC, Tesco and the NHS. Shaun will lead the development of Buzzbike’s digital products, including the Buzzbike app, rider analysis tools and connected bike technology.

Alp Turgut joins the subscription platform as lead designer, having an academic background in computer science and design, Alp has led the design of complex projects at an array of organizations that include Nike, Atlassian, Salesforce and O2 over the last decade. Alp will join Buzzbike to spearhead product development of its digital services including the evolution of the Buzzbike App, a key component the company is using to support its members making the rapid transition to active travel.
