Eco-friendly bamboo hygiene ‘disruptor’ lands £5m funding for global growth
A firm specialising in eco-friendly hygiene products has secured multi-million pound funding to expand operations.
The Cheeky Panda has secured a £5m funding package from HSBC UK to support its global growth.
Founded in 2016 and headquartered in London, The Cheeky Panda aims to offer an eco-friendly and plastic free alternative to traditional household hygiene products including wipes and baby tissues.
The company’s products are currently available in over 25 countries including America, China and the UK, with retail partners including the likes of Boots, Ocado, MonoPrix and Carrefour.
The new funding will support The Cheeky Panda’s plans to continue its global expansion as well as its ambition to make eco-friendly products the ‘new normal’ for households.
Chris Forbes, co-founder of The Cheeky Panda, commented: “This is a hugely exciting and busy time for the team as we continue to expand globally.
“The funding provided by HSBC UK will be instrumental in allowing us to maximize growth by helping us achieve our goal of making high quality eco-friendly and plastic-free household hygiene products commonplace.”
Nigel Parsons, relationship director in East Anglia Corporate Banking for HSBC UK, added: “As we focus more on sustainable investing, we are thrilled to be able to work with The Cheeky Panda to help them offer consumers a sustainable option at an affordable price.
“The business’s rapid growth has been fantastic and we admire the team’s determination to continue to grow internationally during this challenging time.”
