Yorkshire finance firm opens South West office and appoints regional MD

Yorkshire-headquartered commercial finance brokerage, ABL, has expanded its UK portfolio with the opening of a new office in the South West of England and the appointment of a new regional managing director.

The new site – located in Bridgewater, Somerset – opened its doors on 2 November, and is headed up by newly-appointed David Baum, who will be recruiting locally for a finance administrator and apprentice in early 2021.

“At a time when many organisations are looking to downsize – or get rid of their offices completely – this move is the first step towards fulfilling our own targets, and making ABL a truly national organisation,” explained Alex Beardsley, joint managing director at ABL.

“With our head office in Yorkshire, a second outpost in Scotland, we’re hoping to hit the £1.7m turnover threshold next year, and with plans to open two further offices by 2022, we have the representation we need to properly support businesses across the UK – and flourish ourselves.”

“It’s important that we support both clients who are looking for access to finance, and their own advisors, and a physical presence in the South West will allow us to collaborate with the local enterprise partnerships, Chamber of Commerce, and regional business networks.”

ABL’s regional managing director, David Baum, added: “I’m delighted to be spearheading ABL’s expansion across the South of England. Now, more than ever, businesses owners want to know they have someone local supporting them – not a faceless entity that is miles away.

“Being able to meet with someone face-to-face – lockdown permitting – knowledge of the local economy, regional business community, and the ability to signpost to other advisors within the area will only add further value for all parties.”

Providing commercial finance consultancy services to businesses across the UK, ABL has helped over 6,000 organisations to achieve their growth potential since its inception in 2013. Company director, Alex Beardsley, was also elected to serve on the CBI’s Yorkshire and the Humber Regional Council earlier this year.
