The Folds, Romiley, wins silver in national award ceremony
Adlington Retirement Living has won a building industry ‘Oscar’ for its new development in Romiley near Stockport.
The Folds won the Silver Award for Best Retirement Development in the UK at the WhatHouse? Awards 2020, the UK housebuilding’s most prestigious event.
Situated on the banks of the Peak Forest Canal, the retirement community site offers beautiful waterside views, thoughtfully landscaped gardens and is within easy walking distance of Romiley town centre. It is also on the edge of the Peak District and four conservation areas.
The judges were impressed by ‘the interior, which has been thoughtfully designed to blend a contemporary feel with understated elegance and includes a table-service restaurant, lounge and separate coffee lounge, therapy suite, activities/fitness studio and hairdressing salon’.
They also recognised the personal approach offered by the in-house management company, Adlington Management Services, who provide round the clock support, 365 days a year, along with an emergency call system to provide Homeowners and their families added peace of mind.
Alexandra Johnson, Sales and Marketing Director for Adlington Retirement Living, said: “This is the largest national awards event that celebrates the highest standards and the best new homes in the country. We’re really pleased that the judges recognised both our spacious, superbly appointed apartments and our unique approach to independent living.
“Retirement has become an aspirational life stage that many working-age people look forward to. We’re finding that often our Homeowners choose to move when their house is becoming a handful to maintain, the garden is getting a bit too much, and cooking every meal becomes a chore. More people are choosing to move to upmarket retirement communities whilst they are fit and healthy, to future-proof their retirement with peace of mind for the years ahead.
“Our communities offer a safe, secure and happy environment with a circle of friends and a sense of belonging. We aim to provide a community spirit, whilst promoting independence and individual respect. “We offer completely flexible care provision so should requirements change in the future or short-term support be needed for post-operative care or after an illness, the discreet care team can accommodate each homeowner’s needs.” The Folds is the fourth retirement development from Adlington Retirement Living to have won a national award in recent years. The Bridges in Macclesfield won the Silver Award in 2019, Adlington House in Otley won the Gold Award in 2017 and Adlington House in Portishead won the Bronze Award in 2015.
The WhatHouse? Awards 2020 took place on Friday 27th November with a virtual ceremony hosted by Romesh Ranganathan.
