Belmayne gets set for Round Sheffield fundraiser
A partner from Dronfield independent financial planners, Belmayne, is kicking off the new year with a race around the perimeter of Sheffield to raise precious funds for four local charities.
Jon Stevens will be tackling the Round Sheffield Run on January 10 with three friends, on behalf of the Belmayne Foundation.
The 20-kilometre multi-stage trail race was due to take place in June, but had to be postponed due to Covid restrictions. It comprises 11 individual stages, with participants receiving a time for each and an overall result.
All of the sponsorship money raised by Jon and his friends will benefit the four charities Belmayne is supporting this year - Helen’s Trust, Pathways of Chesterfield, Nenna Kind and FareShare Yorkshire. Because the pandemic has severely limited the firm’s fundraising activities, it will continue to back these organisations through 2021.
Jon said: “As we have been unable to hold our planned charity ball, my colleagues and I have decided to raise funds through the coming 12 months by testing our athletic abilities. Attempting the 20-kilometre Round Sheffield Run is a big ask for me, as I have never completed a race of more than 10-kilometres before. However, I’ve been training hard and will be spurred on by all the generous donations we’ve received.”
Jon and his friends, Ashleigh Turner, Jonathan Payne and Paul Turner, have already raised more than £500, exceeding their initial target. In the event the official race is cancelled once again, they will be honouring their commitment to sponsors and running the course anyway. All proceeds will go to the Belmayne Foundation and be shared equally between its nominated charities.
