Construction underway on residential development at former school site in Stockton
Construction has started on a new housing development being built on a former school site in Stockton-on-Tees.
Bellway, based in Newcastle, is building 80 new homes at the former Blakeston School site in Stockton, which was demolished in 2013.
This comes after plans were approved by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council in August. The first properties are expected to be released for sale in the spring next year.
Hayley Teasdale, sales manager for Bellway Durham, said: “The first spade has officially been put in the ground at Old School Gardens which means work is now underway to deliver these new homes for Stockton.
“The new homes will transform this former school site, giving it a new lease of life and creating an attractive development of much-needed new housing in Teesside.
“Old School Gardens will appeal to a wide range of buyers looking for high-quality new homes in a desirable location and we are looking forward to seeing construction progressing at the site.”
