Yorkshire manufacturer pledges to go carbon neutral by 2025

The UK’s leading developer of specialised leak detection and environmental protection systems, Andel, has pledged to go carbon neutral by 2025.

Following the recent UK government announcement to put the country on track to net-zero by 2050, the Yorkshire manufacturer has declared it will significantly reduce its carbon emissions within five years.

The Huddersfield-based company is responsible for oil storage, fuel maintenance, sampling and inspections at more than 50% of all NHS trusts in England and has made the bold decision ahead of the Cop26 climate summit next year.

The team has set up a Carbon Neutral Committee which will oversee the company’s path to net-zero and taking actions such as relaunching products with recycled materials, moving to more energy-efficient premises, sourcing green energy and buying land to offset carbon use. The company also plans to cut non-essential travel and introduce a fleet of electric cars.

Managing Director, Peter Double, said: “Since it was founded in 1992, Andel has been committed to protecting the environment by safeguarding our customers against pollution incidents. So, we are excited by this announcement that we pledge to be a carbon-neutral company by 2025. With the team we have in place and the changes we are already making and have planned, we feel this is a realistic goal.

“I believe it is everyone’s responsibility to take care of the environment for the generations to come and Andel is rising to the challenge.”
