Former print industry worker ready to make his mark on expanding oven valeting business, Ovenu Cambridge
Oven cleaning business Ovenu Cambridge has taken on a subcontractor as demand continues to grow.
Business owner and chartered accountant Mike Korniotis has recruited Jamie Williams, who was made redundant at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, following a 24-year career in the print industry.
Mike, who has successfully built up the business over 17 years, said: “You might expect things may be a little subdued during the pandemic, but people are spending more time at home cooking and baking and our services are in demand more than ever.”
Jamie replaces Martyn Jones, who retired after 12 years with Ovenu Cambridge, and joins Alison Lane, who has worked as a subcontractor for more than a decade.
He completed the stringent Ovenu training programme and gained further practical experience working alongside Mike before going solo in his own van.
The team all have bulging diaries and continue to receive an ever-increasing number of enquiries.
He added: “Jamie is customer-focused and works to a very high standard so is a fantastic addition to the team, working six days a week to cope with the increasing demand.
“When it comes to oven valeting, there is a great deal of competition in the Cambridge area - but 85 per cent of our clients are repeat business, simply because we deliver an unrivalled service.”
Jamie said: “Having spent much of my working life in the printing industry, it was a shock to be made redundant, but I’m now starting a new chapter in my career and look forward to helping Mike grow the business further.”
Rik Hellewell, founder and managing director of the Ovenu franchise, said: “This is one of our most successful franchises, thanks to Mike’s business acumen and hard work.
“It’s great to see the business still needs a full-time sub-contractor to cope with its growing client list, despite these challenging times, and I wish them continued success.”
Ovenu Cambridge serves homes and businesses across Cambridge, Ely, Newmarket, Saffron Walden, Newport, Royston and all the surrounding villages.
The Ovenu valeting process involves dismantling key components of an oven such as the door, interior panels, fan, and shelves and placing them into design-registered tank equipment, which uses safe, non-caustic and biodegradable products to clean the oven parts.
