50 jobs to be created with launch of £2m rooftop restaurant in Newcastle
A North East leisure group has announced that it is creating 50 new jobs as it invests £2m into the development of a new rooftop bar and restaurant.
Gainford Group, based in Chester-le-Street, has started work on Above, the new venue in the rooftop area of The Vermont Hotel in Newcastle.
The company plans to open the restaurant as soon as coronavirus restrictions are lifted, creating 50 jobs.
Imran Khaliq, director at Gainford, commented: “It’s been a long time coming but we have finally got started on ABOVE.
“Our plan is to have it ready by spring time. It all depends upon restrictions but as and when the world is ready, we will be ready.
“We’re making a big investment and, just like other venues we own, it will host everything, from weddings to corporate events.”
