New appointments for senior team at heating specialists Lord Combustion Services

A new Director has been appointed to the board of leading Black Country commercial heating specialists Lord Combustion Services as one of a series of promotions on the back of a strong 2020 company performance.

Greg Jones has been promoted from the role of Contracts Manager to join the board of Directors at the firm, which serves more than 1000 customers across the West Midlands and beyond from its base in Dudley Road East, Oldbury.

Greg will take responsibility for the company’s services and planned maintenance operations. His appointment comes as he marks 10 years with Lord Combustion Services, having started with the company as an apprentice in 2011.

Other colleagues to have been promoted include Marie Doherty, who has become Operations Manager, Kal Plaha has moved up to Business Development Manager and Matthew Smith has taken on the position of Contracts Engineer.

From their Oldbury HQ, Lord Combustion Services serve a diverse range of customers every year, including landmark buildings such as Edgbaston cricket ground, as well as numerous NHS sites, schools and other public buildings.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and accompanying lockdown restrictions put in place, the company reported a successful year having supported clients in ensuring their sites met heating and safety requirements.

They also kept commercial hot water systems operational to ensure handwashing facilities remained available to continue the fight against the spread of COVID-19.

Stuart Smith, Managing Director, said the new appointments would further strengthen the business as they served clients through the lockdown winter and beyond in 2021. He said: “We are pleased to make these appointments as all these colleagues have shown the strong commitment which clients expect from our business.

“Although challenging for all businesses, 2020 saw a strong performance by Lord Combustion Services as we moved quickly to adapt to the changing situation and staff worked hard to ensure all our customers received a high standard of service. I look forward to leading the new look team to further success in the year ahead.”

Trading since 1982, Lord Combustion Services was originally a mechanical contractor specialising in service and commissioning of gas and oil-fired equipment. Since then, the company has branched out to support customers across all aspects of mechanical and electrical building services.
