Housebuilder supports families in East Riding with £1,000 donation to St Anne’s School Residence

Local housebuilder, Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, continues to support the communities in which it builds, by donating £1,000 as part of its Community Fund scheme to St Anne’s School Residence in Welton, near Brough, a team of staff who provide continuous specialist support to local families and children in need.

St Anne’s School and Sixth Form College provide a safe and supportive environment to its pupils aged between 2 and 19, ensuring that all pupils are given the opportunity and experience to develop their life skills and independence through a personalised curriculum.

The donation will go towards the residence service that the school incorporates, which provides support to families in East Riding and surrounding areas who have children with autism, communication and severe learning difficulties, or other physical and mental health issues which require intensive specialist support. With only 334 residential specialist schools in the country, the residence team offers a 24-hour support line to all parents and carers who are in need of support for their families.

Kay O’Neill, Head of Care at St Anne’s School Residence, said: “We are over the moon at Barratt Developments Yorkshire East’s generous donation. We support families in the local community and support children and young adults whose lives are affected by various health issues. We want to relieve stress wherever possible for the families who use our services, and it’s amazing to be supported in our hard work. We have been unable to carry out much of our planned fundraising this year so this donation is much appreciated and we will put the money to good use for much needed sensory equipment for the benefit of the children and young people.”

Daniel Smith, Managing Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire East added: “The team at St Anne’s School Residence does an amazing job at offering support to families in the community and children with learning difficulties. As a housebuilder, we want to continue helping charities and organisations in the communities in which we build by saying thank you for all of their hard work and devotion to helping others. We really hope that our Community Fund donation will help to raise awareness of the vital work that St Anne’s Residence does and further support families in our community.”

The Community Fund initiative sees Barratt Developments Yorkshire East donate £1,000 to a different community group or charity from the region every month.
