TransUnion UK Signs Up to Race at Work Charter and Launches Diversity and Inclusion Forum, Affirming its Commitment to Racial Equality

TransUnion is proud to have signed the Race at Work Charter, created by Business in the Community (BITC) in partnership with the UK government in 2018 to improve outcomes for black, Asian and minority ethnic employees in the UK.

At the same time, TransUnion is celebrating the UK launch of its global diversity and inclusion forum, which supports a diverse and inclusive work environment that encourages all associates to bring their authentic self to work each and every day.

The Race at Work Charter is a public commitment to improving the experiences of black, Asian and minority ethnic employees in the workplace. It sets out five actions for signatories like TransUnion to take: • Appointing an executive sponsor for race • Capturing data and publicising progress • Ensuring zero tolerance of harassment and bullying • Making equality in the workplace the responsibility of all leaders and managers • Taking action that supports ethnic minority career progression

This year, research carried out by Business in the Community (BITC) on the second anniversary of the landmark Race at Work Charter launch reveals that 76% of employers say that action on race recruitment and progression is a strategic priority.

“We’re proud to sign up to the Race at Work Charter as a testament to our ongoing and firm commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace,” said Tammy Taylor-Stowe, chief human resources officer at TransUnion in the UK. “To put our pledge into practice we rely on the support of our colleagues, and our newly launched diversity and inclusion forum has been established with that purpose, with events and activities to be run by colleagues to foster an encouraging and welcoming workplace.”

Sandra Kerr CBE, race equality director at Business in the Community, said: “We would like to thank TransUnion for setting out their commitment to being an inclusive and responsible employer. By signing up to the charter, they are showing that they aspire to have one of the most inclusive workplaces in the country. Together we can break down barriers in the workplace, raise the aspirations and achievements of talented individuals and deliver an enormous boost to the long-term economic position of the UK.”
