Sodexo Engage Celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week

Sodexo’s random acts of kindness throughout the week comes as a bid to encourage kindness both in and out of the workplace, improving mental health and wellbeing.

As part of Random Acts of Kindness Week, Sodexo Engage will be randomly gifting to clients, colleagues and friends through a range of activities to promote the importance of kindness both in and out the workplace.

Sodexo Engage believes that spreading kindness in the workplace should be second nature to employers and encourages other companies to take part. In busy working environments it can often be easy to overlook the importance of being kind, particularly while dealing with heavy workloads and work-related pressure. But encouraging acts of kindness cannot be overstated, and the outcomes of kindness that include boosted energy, motivation and an increased sense of togetherness - are all benefits businesses can’t afford to miss out on.

The employee benefits experts will be choosing some of their platform users at random to receive a virtual money donation so that they can gift the funds to their choice of the following charities: the Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Research UK, Crisis UK, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Macmillan and Trussell Trust.

Sodexo Engage will donate 50p to its charity partner, Stop Hunger, for every transaction made on its Employee Benefits Platform and the ‘Discounts by Sodexo’ app throughout the week. At the end of the week, Sodexo Engage will double the charity amount, up to £10,000.

Sodexo Engage is also gifting ‘Thank You’ chocolate boxes to selected ‘We are Discounts’ cardholders - the UK’s largest healthcare member discount programme - spreading kindness to key workers such as doctors, nurses and teachers, as well as charity workers and carers. Plus, for every transaction made using the Spree Cashback Card, £10p will be donated to Stop Hunger.

Jamie Mackenzie, Director at Sodexo Engage, comments:

“The last 12 months have shown us the value of being kind and supporting one and other. Nobody knows the true extent of how someone is feeling or what they may be going through at all times – whether that be a family member, friend or colleague, and a bit of kindness can go a long way. “Research shows that in the workplace, kindness encourages increased health and emotional well-being – both of which are key attributes to a healthy, thriving workforce. So, if we can share some kindness with even just one more person and kickstart a positive culture that encourages people to be kind– we think that’s worth its weight in gold.”
