CPP secures £3.5m sale at popular Barnsley site

Property consultants Commercial Property Partners (CPP) has facilitated a multi-million-pound deal in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, finalising the sale of more than 0.66 acres for a private client.

Spanning 2-18 Queen Street, 26 May Day Green and 1-11 Eldon Street, the bustling island site is situated in Barnsley’s largest retail, administrative and commercial centre. With its key frontage located on Queen Street, covenants include Holland & Barratt, Costa Coffee, Specsavers, Barclays and Halifax.

Sitting within the town’s primary pedestrianised retail area, the property comprises 10 retail units, as well as 3 upper floor suites offering significant potential for developers.

Benefitting from its proximity to Doncaster, Sheffield and Leeds, Barnsley boasts strong connections, and is situated at the junction of the A628 A635 and A637 roads. The location is further enhanced by its links to Junctions 37 and 38 of the M1 motorway.

Barnsley town centre has recently benefitted from a £180m regeneration scheme, with “The Glass Works” sitting on 9.5 acres of land directly opposite to the retail site. The region is projected to see significant population growth within its Retail Market Area over the coming years, boosting the town’s appeal to retail occupiers.

Commenting on the deal, Robin Bullas, Director at CPP, said: “We are delighted to have secured this agreement for our client during what has been an incredibly challenging time for the high street retail sector.

“We all hope to see Britain’s high streets return to business over the coming months and finalising this deal in Barnsley marks a step in that right direction.”
