New Planner Joins Hybrid Planning & Development

Specialist urban planning consultancy, Hybrid Planning & Development has appointed a new planner to its growing team.

Alex Wright, an urban design specialist with expertise in the full spectrum of planning from small scale permitted developments to new garden towns, joins Hybrid as a planner. Having achieved his BSc in Urban Planning, Alex completed his Masters in Urban Design and City Planning from University College London (UCL). Alex is a licentiate member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and plans to complete his training and apply for full RTPI membership whilst continuing his career at Hybrid.

“Hybrid has a small team that’s making a big impact,” said Alex. “Whilst they’re well-known as experts on urban, mixed use schemes, the team is also working on a range of projects across the UK including commercial space and community initiatives so I knew there would be plenty of diversity. The level of independence also appealed, unlike larger consultancies, I knew I would be given my own projects to shepherd, so seeing them from start to finish will provide real fulfilment.”

Alex’s appointment takes the Hybrid team to nine, after directors, Claire Day and Danielle St Pierre took the decision to recruit following a hugely successful 2020.

“Despite the challenges of the past 12 months, our business has seen substantial growth, recording successful planning consents for more than 1,300 residential properties and 65,000 sq ft commercial space, including in major cities and on flagship sites such as within the Crossrail corridor,” explains director, Danielle St Pierre. “With a further 250 residential properties already secured since the beginning of 2021, we knew the time was right to add to the team.

“Alex’s skillset and experience is really complementary so we were confident he would fit in well with the team. Together, we’re working on some exciting new schemes in Barking, Southwark, Milton Keynes and Birmingham and can already see the difference of having Alex on board,” Danielle concluded.

An excellent golfer playing off a handicap of three, Alex’s other interests including cooking and spending time with his young family.
