New directors in at Grant Thornton Cardiff

LEADING business advisory firm Grant Thornton UK LLP has invested in its Cardiff team with the relocation of a key tax advisor and the promotion to director in the audit practice.

Jamie Preston joins the Cardiff team as Associate Tax Director after working in Grant Thornton’s Sheffield office for twelve years. He has a wealth of experience in supporting private-equity firms with international portfolios and is also handling companies with the tax implications of Brexit.

Dylan Rees has been promoted to Audit Director. He has almost a decade of experience working within the audit sector and joined Grant Thornton five-years ago from Audit Wales. Since then he has worked with a diverse client base across Wales and the South West of England, ranging from small owner manager companies to large private equity backed groups.

Dylan, 30, will work closely with Rhian Owen, Audit Partner in the Cardiff office, to lead the audit team and continue to drive growth, providing strong client service and delivering high quality audit work. Both new directors will work in close collaboration with Grant Thornton’s Bristol office to support clients based across the entire South West region.

Commenting on his new role, Jamie said: “Cardiff is an exciting, cultural city and, along with the wider South West region that we serve, well placed to recover as the economy resets post-Covid. I have now been with Grant Thornton for 13 years and I am looking forward to working alongside my colleagues in the Cardiff office to support our clients in navigating this exciting period of growth and recovery.”

On his new role, Dylan commented: “Since joining the audit team 5 years ago, I have seen the department and the office go from strength to strength. Grant Thornton have provided me and others with excellent personal development opportunities, and I’m looking forward to repaying them and working alongside Rhian and the rest of the local leadership team to grow the business even further.”

Rhian Owen, the audit partner who leads the Cardiff office, said: “We’re delighted to see our colleagues progress and value the contributions they are making within our team as we grow our offering in Wales.”

Jonathan Riley, practice leader for Grant Thornton in the region, added: “It’s great to see these outstanding professionals progress – both Jamie and Dylan have a wealth of knowledge and technical expertise and make a real difference for our clients.”
