Teesside scientific business centre reveals plans for multi-million pound investment

A Teesside business centre has unveiled its plans for a £2m investment into its facility.

The Wilton Centre near Redcar, which is home to several multi-national scientific companies, has announced that nearly £2m will be spent on a new reception, entrance area, and main restaurant.

There will also be another restaurant and collaboration space near the Technical Development Area.

Plans show that when not being used for catering, the main restaurant will be transformed into a multi-functional events area.

Claire Morton, accommodation manager at Wilton Centre, explained: “We have remained open during COVID and up to 50 per cent of our occupiers have continued to come here in a safe way.

“The work is due to be finished in early summer and the timing is ideal as the remainder of our tenants, who have been working from home, come back to the office.”

Jeroen Houtzager, director of Trinity Investment, which owns Wilton Centre, commented: “One of the major strengths of our network of parks is the relationships between businesses. We have listened to our tenants who said that collaboration and breakout spaces are a major benefit to staff.”

Stephen Brown, senior partner with commercial property agents Dodds Brown, added: “Businesses providing professional services have recognised the appeal of being here. They’ve got potential clients on their doorstep and they’re right in the heart of one of the UK’s most vibrant industrial areas.”

“The area is likely to become even more active in the wake of this month’s budget announcements.”
