Beauty pioneer Gina Collins plans academy comeback

Gina Collins has worked within the beauty and aesthetic industry for over 25-years and during these two-decades she has reached many professional landmarks, such as her training license and opening of cosmetic practices. With the Gina Collins HQ located in the heart of Manchester, within the prestigious Manchester International Beauty Academy, Gina Collins has developed a unique training programme with unprecedented levels of quality and regulation. Gina said: “Our high standards and locations do make us accessible to a vast array of students from all over the world. It is the same high standards that structure and run all of our accredited courses and we love to welcome new and existing students through our doors.”

That being said, like most affiliated to the beauty and aesthetic industry, the last 12-months have been challenging times for Gina and her team - due to the impacts of Covid-19 and numerous national lockdowns, Gina had no options other than to close her academy and client services.

MIBA Director, Carina Thompson commented on the last 12 months: “It has been and still is a difficult period for the industry. Here at MIBA our values are to motivate, inspire, believe, achieve, and we will continue to take pride in offering apprenticeships, VTCT courses, short courses and even room hire, like we do for Gina, to some of the very best training providers in the UK, if not the world, in the future.”

Listed alongside so many closed sectors, the re-opening of the beauty and cosmetic industry has been a constant talking point from professionals to consumers. Along with several national campaigns being presented to The Houses of Parliament throughout 2020, and again at the start of 2021, these petitions highlighted solidarity by the field. So, it is no surprise the news of re-opening the sought-after and well equipped trade is highly welcomed by Gina and millions of other professionals.

“It’s the news we’ve all been hoping and preparing for, so to get confirmation that the beauty and cosmetic sector would be re-opening once again was incredibly joyous. A moment I will always remember. There’s no denying the fact these are still uncertain times, but I personally feel like this is a momentous moment within my career and instead of constantly focusing on the unknown and negatives, I’ve used this time to innovate and plan for an even bigger and brighter future for my academy, staff and clients. I have worked within the industry for over two decades and refuse to let all those years of hard work go to waste. I would encourage other professionals, whether that be in beauty or other professional sectors, to think the same. One thing that has really resonated with me is the sense of community from fellow practitioners, we have all been in this together and long may the camaraderie continue.”

Gina Collins is a VTCT Approved Academy delivering a wide range of courses. “We are looking forward to enrolling new students very soon. We are also really excited on our return to able to offer new L4 qualifications in scalp micropigmentation and laser. Safety is our main concern and we will be adapting training to smaller groups.”
