Former textile mill set to form "key" part of Yorkshire residential development
A Leeds housebuilder has announced its acquisition of a new site in West Yorkshire as part of a “thriving” residential scheme.
Chartford Homes has acquired a “prime” development site in Burley in Wharfedale, which it says will form a “key” part of its transformation of the former Greenholme Mills site.
The site, which was the largest water-powered textile mill in England for nearly 200 years, will become part of the new 20 home development.
Following this acquisition, MMR Estates will start work on the development, which is set to launch in September.
Chris Thompson, managing director at Chartford Homes, said: “Burley in Wharfedale is a highly sought-after village for homebuyers with good schools, a railway station and a great selection of local amenities.
“It is also surrounded by fantastic countryside, which this site takes full advantage of with riverside walks on the doorstep, down to Burley in Wharfedale’s stepping-stones and across to Asquith, Denton and beyond.
“When this is combined with Chartford Homes’ next-level craftsmanship, attention to detail and experience in creating inspiring new neighbourhoods, there’s no doubt this will be a place people will love to live.
“We are now looking forward to commencing work on site, with the first homes due to be released for sale towards the end of this year.”
Matthew Brear, senior associate at Dacres Commercial, said: “Completing this sale to Chartford Homes, following a strategically targeted marketing campaign, is extremely pleasing. Chartford’s attention to detail and high-quality finish will complement MMR Estates’ sympathetic redevelopment of the historic mill buildings perfectly.”
“The site has the added benefit of being just off the Burley bypass, but it’s just a short, pleasant walk from the centre of Burley in Wharfedale, through the underpasses that cross the A65, as well as being located in a rural area overlooking the River Wharfe and the countryside beyond, which will all make it a fantastic place to call home.”
