Coventry retailer hands out bumper Easter donation
Food banks in Nuneaton and Bedworth have received a bumper clutch of chocolate Easter eggs to donate to families in need, thanks to the UK’s leading online flooring retailer.
UK Flooring Direct, which has its headquarters in Hinckley and another site in north Coventry, has donated a combined total of 100 chocolate eggs to The Trussell Trust’s food banks on Bulkington Road, Bedworth and Fifield Close, Nuneaton.
The donations enabled The Trussell Trust’s Bedworth food bank to include a chocolate treat into each of the 80 parcels they were preparing to hand out ahead of the Easter weekend.
Gill Hancock, Manager from the Bedworth Food Bank, said: “We provide many families with the essentials so they can get by, so it’s brilliant to add in a surprise treat for them ahead of the Easter Weekend.
“Demand for our services has remained high since the Christmas period and we are currently sending out around 80 to 100 food parcels every week on average.
“These donations are such a kind gesture from UK Flooring Direct, and we’d like to thank them once again for thinking of us and the vulnerable families that we continue to support.”
It is the second time in three months that UK Flooring Direct has supported The Trussell Trust after donating a combined £1,500 to the Nuneaton and Bedworth food banks at Christmas, as part of a wider £6,000 donation.
Faye Summers, Head of HR and People Development from UK Flooring Direct, added: “We are aware of the financial hardship that some families are going through from the close links that we have forged with local food banks, and we were keen to do our bit to help out over the Easter period.
“As a company we are passionate about supporting our local community and helping those in need via organisations such as The Trussell Trust.”
