Manchester digital agency expands team

Following recent growth and project wins, leading Manchester digital agency, MadeByShape, has appointed Nathan Johnston as content writer, bringing total headcount at the agency to 12.

26-year-old Nathan, from Oldham, will focus on content creation for MadeByShape’s client projects, including blog articles, tone of voice, brand personality and on-page content. Working closely with the agency’s SEO team, Nathan will ensure all content has an SEO focus aligned to the strategies created for its clients.

Nathan commented: “With a lifetime love of copy writing and content development, and a year’s experience as a full-time writer, I was keen to join an exciting agency where I have the freedom to be as creative as I want. As someone who likes to bring real personality to what I write, MadeByShape was the perfect place for me to join, and at a time when it is experiencing significant growth. And as MadeByShape only works with clients that share its ethos and values, I’m excited to be working some pretty cool brands too.”

After receiving over 100 applications within five days, MadeByShape co-founder, Andy Golpys, admitted that the shortlisting process was tough, with three candidates of particularly high quality. “Nathan’s attention to detail and creative approach to writing alongside his personality made him the ideal person to take on this important role. Having a connection with a candidate and feeling comfortable is very important if you are going to be working with each other every day. That’s the balance we struck instantly with Nathan.

“Our clients have come to expect a high standard of work and bringing Nathan on board will help ensure we continue to meet, if not exceed, these expectations.”

Onboarding a new employee during lockdown has not been the challenge many expect, “Working in the creative and digital industry, we are all used to Zoom, so onboarding Nathan and welcoming him to the team during this third lockdown has actually been quite a positive journey. That said, we all can’t wait to start working together in the studio, where we know Nathan will be the perfect cultural fit.”

MadeByShape was founded in 2010 by Andy Golpys and Jason Mayo and has achieved consistent year-on-year growth during this period. It has become a recognised leader in authentically developed creative and bespoke digital campaigns, including e-Commerce and mobile friendly websites.
