Hexham plumbing business launches recruitment drive as green energy demand "surges"

A North East plumbing business has announced that it is launching a new recruitment campaign due to “surging demand”.

J P Westall, based in Hexham, is aiming to increase its headcount over the coming months following an increase in demand for green energy home heating.

The company installs around three air source and ground source heat pumps each week, and is aiming to push this into double figures this year.

It says that the increased demand is linked to publicity about global warming, with half of all enquiries to the business driven by low-carbon options.

Steven Wigham, general manager of J P Westall, commented: “A lot of customers want to reduce their carbon footprint.

“David Attenborough programmes, the emphasis on global warming and the government’s need to comply with its own carbon-reduction targets, supported by schemes such as the Renewable Heat Incentive and the [now discontinued] Green Home Energy grant, are causing people to look at their current fossil fuel demand.

“They are looking for alternative energy products that are less environmentally harmful.”
