Work to begin on new Crystal Peaks retail units

WORK is set to begin next week on the creation of five new retail units at Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre in Sheffield.

The four ground floor units at the north east of the centre’s East Mall entrance will have new frontages that will open onto the Crystal Peaks red car park and there will also be space at first floor level, suitable for a gym or similar business.

The work will involve opening up the side of the building, in what was previously the Toys R Us unit.

It will also include the reconfiguring of a section of the car park in front of the mall to accommodate a wider footpath and new disabled parking spaces.

Two of the units have already been let before the conversion work begins and full details will be announced soon.

“We are delighted to be able to confirm that this important work will be starting on Monday and should be completed by July, with the minimum of inconvenience to our visitors,” said Centre Manager Lee Greenwood.

“That means our first new tenants are expected to be open for business by September.

“The past 12 months have been difficult for all sectors of the retail world but we remain committed to providing our visitors with the best possible shopping experience.

“This work will provide an opportunity to enhance both the appearance of the centre and its overall offering and with two of the units already assigned to new businesses, we are confident that the others will also be very quickly leased.”

“The restructuring of these units, as well as the potential for the introduction of a facility like an on-site gym, will serve to attract potential new uses as we move forward.”
