IKEA donation offers home comforts to Roundabout young tenants
YOU move into your first property and you need all those things that turn a house into a home.
It’s just the same for the young people supported by South Yorkshire youth homelessness charity Roundabout’s Private Rented Service.
The Private Renting Service supports young people in Sheffield to live independently in private sector tenancies.
Roundabout’s Private Rented Workers offer practical support to help those young people find a suitable home and develop their independent living skills, offering financial advice and helping them to build vital life skills and the confidence they need to lead successful independent lives.
Part of that service is the Home Starter Pack that new tenants receive when they move into their new property and Roundabout approached the city branch of homes specialist IKEA for their support
IKEA’s cook shop department had just undergone a rebuild during lockdown ready for re-opening and they had a selection of cookware, glasses, mugs, trays and tea towels to donate.
“This was a fantastic contribution and one that really will make a massive difference to the lives of the young people we support,” said Roundabout Community Fundraiser Jess Hudson.
“It’s the little things that make a house into a home and our starter packs just make moving in that little bit easier.”
