"Internet hit" sweet shop announces first physical store with new Merrion Centre home

A new “internet hit” sweet shop is set to open its first store next month at a Leeds shopping centre.

Sugar Rush Sweeties, launched during lockdown, is setting up its first physical store at the Merrion Centre in Leeds’ Arena Quarter.

The store, which will create up to 8 new jobs for the city, became a “social media sensation” when it started selling sweets online last year.

Opening in June, the physical store will sell an array of traditional and modern confectionary including Pick N Mix, chocolate, imported candy and beverages.

Tayla Harris, co-owner of Sugar Rush, said: “We are excited to open our first city centre venue in the heart of Leeds Arena Quarter, which we feel offers the exact vibe for our brand.

“With the increasing number of new student accommodation within the immediate vicinity and the first direct Arena directly opposite, we see this as the perfect location for our latest, contemporary sweet shop and we can’t wait to introduce new customers to Sugar Rush!”
