Rising energy firm boosts customer count amidst Ofgem price hikes

A Leicestershire energy firm has seen a ten per cent increase in domestic switches following a raft of acclaim in the customer satisfaction stakes.

The news comes despite industry regulated price hikes coming into effect at the beginning of last month, solidifying its reputation for delivering a value for money service.

Upstart Outfox the Market has been riding a wave of momentum since the beginning of the year, after it was named the top supplier in the country for customer satisfaction by Which?, toppling the likes of British Gas and EDF energy.

Bolstering its reputation further, the independent supplier has revealed news of a ten per cent increase to its customer base, combined with the accolade of claiming one of the top five spots in the latest edition of the Citizens Advice star rating.

“We’re delighted to be welcoming more customers to the Outfox the Market family,” said Outfox the Market CEO Keith Bastian.

“It has been a difficult period for consumers, battling not only the effects of the pandemic, but also the industry regulated price hikes from Ofgem.

“Tariffs and the money customers are paying is of key concern for us, which is why we have given timely responses with accurate and up to date information on the ways consumers can shield themselves from standard variable price increases.

“It is with great joy that we can rest assured that our team is maintaining high levels of quality and care in customer satisfaction areas, backed up by external commendations from both Which? and Citizens Advice.”

Launched in 2017, Outfox the Market, situated on Frog Island in the city centre, has so far accrued over 100,000 customers to date.

It has long aimed to tackle the stranglehold of the energy industry once held by the ‘Big Six’ firms, and states that its recent popularity among customers has come from those switching from the traditional household names.

With research indicating record numbers of us are switching energy suppliers year on year, combined with eco-conscious consumer landscape around renewable providers, CEO Keith Bastian believes the tide is finally beginning to turn in the energy market.

“People are more clued-up these days,” he added. “Not only do we understand better the impact all our choices make on the environment, but we’re also invested in a comparison mindset, where we compare everything from mobile phone deals to car insurance.

“That’s starting to be the case with energy research, and while I’d say comparison sites are great in that respect, don’t let them fool you.

“To view the entirety of the energy landscape available to you, I’d always urge customers to go direct, check consumer backed research such as Which? and Citizens Advice, and don’t let age-old reputations fool you into thinking a more expensive supply is better.”

Taking a carbon-free approach, Outfox the Market strives to uphold ‘clean’ standards by replacing every unit of electricity it takes from the grid, with a unit generated from a renewable source.
