Strong performance for Hampshire housebuilder reflects high demand in housing market

A Hampshire housebuilder has reported a strong performance in 2021 highlighting the high de-mand for its high-quality homes.

Barratt Developments, made up of Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, has issued its trading update for the period from 1 January to 2 May 2021, and the figures are very promising.

The five-star housebuilder, bringing new homes to Hampshire, has seen construction activity progress well, with an average of 321 homes built each week across the country, and a total sales revenue of £3,696.3 million. The company also expects to complete on between 16,000 and 16,250 homes this year.

This is tremendous news for the housing market during a time of continued economic uncertain-ties and reflects the underlying market strength and strong customer demand for the house-builder’s new homes.

And with a 59.6% increase on reservations on homes compared to the same time in 2020, the impact of the Covid pandemic and unprecedented closures of sites and sales offices is noticea-ble.

As the country heads out of the Covid crisis and subsequent restrictions, the housebuilder’s priority continues to be keeping its customers and colleagues safe as it delivers high-quality sustainable homes, creates jobs, and supports the country’s economic recovery.

Jon Green, Barratt Developments Managing Director, Southampton Division, said: “As we bring new homes to Hampshire, the safety of our staff and customers remains our top priority, and we will continue to ensure we have COVID-secure policies in place.

“Unlike many other industries we have been fortunate in our ability to continue operations across the country this year, and as a result, we are in a strong financial position.

“Our long-term commitment to quality and customer service remains absolute. This is the right thing to do for our customers and is fundamental to the resilience of our business.”

The housebuilder’s high-quality homes have been recognised through the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards. In June 2020 its site managers were awarded 92 awards, more than any other housebuilder for the 16th consecutive year. In the subsequent Regional NHBC Pride in the Job Awards, it secured seven of the ten regional awards where it operates.

In March 2021, the company retained its maximum 5 Star rating from its customers in the HBF customer satisfaction survey for the 12th successive year, a unique achievement amongst the major national housebuilders.

And, with sustainability high on the agenda for homebuyers, Barratt Developments is also committed to providing environmentally friendly homes. It is this commitment that has meant it was the highest scoring national housebuilder in the 2020 Next Generation Sustainability Benchmark Report in March 2021 – a high accolade.
