CODA Architects nominated for two major property awards
A landmark Sheffield residential development has been nominated for two awards at the prestigious Sheffield City Region Property Dinner 2021.
Great Central, designed by the team at CODA Architects for Qualis Developments, is a nine-storey 131 apartment complex in Neepsend, close to Kelham Island, at the busy junctions of Mowbray Street, Chatham Street and Pitsmoor Road.
At the awards ceremony, the CODA team are finalists in the Design Excellence category and are also up for the Outstanding Development of the Year prize.
CODA Technical Director Andrew Chetwynd developed the project from its earliest stages.
“Great Central was a challenging site to develop due to the topography and usual shape of the site,” he explained.
“We worked very closely with the planners and the project design team and have creased something we believe is already becoming a genuine landmark in an area for real future growth.”
The 131 apartments within the development range from studios to one and two and bedroom units aimed primarily at the young professional market, along with two street level commercial premises.
CODA Managing Director Matt Bowker added: “The success of so many CODA projects in the Kelham Island area meant that neighbouring Neepsend was the logical progression for us.
“We are very proud of what the team achieved and we believe Great Central will prove popular in the long term with both buyers and renters who want to enjoy all the advantages of living so close to the city centre.
“These two nominations recognise the strength of the original design and a genuine commitment to the regeneration of this part of the city.”
