New managing director appointed at Lynemouth Power Station

Fiona Macleod has been appointed as managing director of Lynemouth Power Station (Lynemouth Power Limited/LPL) in Northumberland.

Fiona, a Chartered Engineer, brings experience in major capital projects, engineering, maintenance, operations and process safety. She has held various senior leadership positions and is currently a governor of Teesside University and a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) where she chairs an international safety committee (LPB).

Furthermore, she most recently established overseas subsidiaries for a Chinese manufacturing company, growing turnover from zero to US$250M in six years.

Fiona will now lead the power station, part of global energy investments firm, EPH, as it continues to take huge strides forward in renewable energy following its conversion from coal to biomass electricity production.

Fiona commented, “I am tremendously impressed by the scale of the investment made at Lynemouth as well as at our Port of Tyne facilities. The conversion to biomass has certainly been a huge turning point for the power station, its workforce and the wider North East region, creating a new chapter from which to move forward and play an integral role in the country’s renewable energy production.

“We have a significant opportunity to demonstrate world-class performance, maximising clean, green power generation and positively contributing to the Government’s net zero strategy on both a local and national level. I will therefore be working closely with the wider EPUKI group and our strategic partners on the long-term future of green energy in the region.”
