CitySprint launches new Sheffield Service Centre to serve local community
CitySprint, the UK’s largest same day distribution company, has today announced the opening of a new service centre just outside of Sheffield. While CitySprint has served the local community for many years, this has — until now — been done from their Leeds service centre.
The decision to open this new site was made due to increased demand for courier and logistics services in Sheffield and the surrounding areas – with CitySprint seeing a huge boost in DIY retail logistics in particular over the last year.
The location of the new hub — 6b Aspen Court, Rotherham, S60 1FB — means they will be able to support the neighbouring Nottingham and Leeds service centres, as well as the surrounding areas of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham, Scunthorpe, Worksop and Chesterfield. The business, which also has a healthcare logistics arm — CitySprint Health — will now also be better placed to carry out vital logistics work for Sheffield Children’s Hospital and BMI Thornbury Hospital.
CitySprint have over 60 couriers on hand in the Sheffield area, with a fleet comprising a range of vehicles — including cars, small and large vans, transits and an e-van. The site — which will operate 24/7, 365 days a year — offers services including, but not limited to, same day courier, UK overnight delivery, international delivery and also warehousing, pick and pack solutions.
Mark Phillipson, Regional Manager at CitySprint commented: “We are constantly looking for ways to evolve our offering in order to best serve our customers in South Yorkshire. Opening this new Sheffield Service Centre will enable us to do just this — helping us to meet demand and continue to deliver a first-class service to local businesses, no matter their size or the sector they operate in.”
Alongside the launch of the new site, CitySprint are also investing in local talent — looking to recruit 20 couriers in the Sheffield area.
