Fundraising Platform Set Up By Brain Tumour Survivor
Following a discovery that he had a life-threatening brain tumour, a local business owner is helping to raise much-needed funds for the charity that helped him during the most harrowing diagnosis of his life.
George Elliott, owner of print company Elliott Print, was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma brain tumour last January. Having had surgery to remove the tumour and currently undergoing treatment, he has been given continuous support from cancer patient charity; Daft as a Brush. In response, The George Elliott Fundraising Army has been set up by himself as a way to say thank you to the charity for all the support given during his cancer battle.
Money for the foundation can be raised through fundraising activities such as sponsored events and direct donations can also be made on his website, with 100% of the money raised going straight to the charity.
Daft as a Brush are a cancer patient care team who support cancer patients by transporting them to and from important hospital appointments, free of charge. George hopes through raising money for the charity, they can continue to provide their services and help more patients.
George, who recently married his long-term girlfriend, Hollie, has spent the vast majority of the pandemic fighting the brain tumour and although the operation was deemed a success, George knows that there is still a long way to go.
George told us: “Daft as a Brush were brilliant in helping me get to and from my radiotherapy appointments. I want to give them something back by raising money for the charity so they can continue to offer the same outstanding service to other cancer patients, like me. I’ve remained positive throughout this and still do so, with the help of my fantastic family and friends, but Daft as a Brush did so much to help me during the lowest of times and for that I’ll be forever grateful.”
The charity helped put George at ease by arranging pick up times to take him to his appointments and waiting for him to finish his treatment before driving him home.
