Warwickshire accountancy firm thanks staff for pandemic support with new work hours
A Warwickshire accountancy firm has thanked its staff for their hard work in the pandemic by giving permanent early finishes on a Friday afternoon.
Burgis & Bullock, which has offices in Leamington, Nuneaton, Rugby and Stratford-upon-Avon, has been busy throughout the pandemic as it guided clients through the ever-changing business landscape.
For the months of July and August the firm will close its offices at 1pm on a Friday afternoon, and from September the offices will close at 4.30pm on a Friday.
Sean Farnell, Partner at Burgis & Bullock, says that the firm’s staff deserve recognition for their tireless work over the last 15 months.
“The partners have been extremely impressed with the dedication, hard work, and adaptability of our staff throughout the pandemic, he said.
“The way in which all teams have risen to the challenge of working from home, yet still working efficiently, effectively, and providing an excellent, accurate and timely service for our clients has been fantastic.
“In addition to all the normal services we provide, our team have helped clients with advice on a range of pandemic business issues, including furlough, government loans and grants, self-employed business support, and much more.
“The hard work of our team has allowed the business, and many of our clients, to carry on operating to some level of normality through what has been the most challenging of times.
“Whilst working in an accountancy practice pales into insignificance compared to the heroic efforts of the NHS and other key workers, the partners feel staff across all departments have been flexible with their time and regularly gone above and beyond to ensure clients received the support they required. Therefore, we are rewarding their flexibility with these new more flexible hours on a Friday afternoon.
“Previously staff could finish early on a Friday but would have to make up that time, however that is no longer the case and that requirement has been waived.
“To ensure all staff feel the benefits of this change, our part-time workers are also entitled to reduce their hours by the same proportion as full-time workers.
“For businesses, across all sectors, it has been driven home over the last year the importance of having trusted and reliable staff in times of crisis. “We hope that this doesn’t inconvenience or impact on our clients too much, and are sure they understand the firm is dedicated to excellent service for all. By continuing to train and support our staff, reward them, and by maintaining a healthy work/life balance, this will also benefit our clients old and new.”
