Cornish Sea Salt Launches Recruitment Drive Following Rapid Growth
In the last 12 months, Cornish Sea Salt has seen record sales, but with expansion to meet demand both in the UK and internationally are finding it increasingly hard to recruit staff to facilitate the expansion.
The Cornish Business saw 46% increase in sales across UK supermarkets in 2020 as well as continued growth in the large export sector to 33 countries worldwide. As a result, they’ve planned to increase production facilities by a third and invest further to support the growth of the business.
Despite the idyllic location right by the shoreside, like a lot of Cornish Businesses, production is currently struggling to recruit staff for the salt production site on a coastal location near Helston as well as the packing warehouse on the estuary in Gweek due to ongoing implications of Covid.
Managing Director Philip Tanswell said: “We’re going through a period of growth which is an exciting time for us as a business. With home-cooking at an all-time high as a continuing trend after lockdown, our Sea Salt is in high demand which is why we are expanding our production facilities.
“With 37 number of staff already working within the business across the two sites, we need more hands to help us with the expansion. We offer a great working environment with unbeatable views, competitive rates of pay and job security.
“Production is currently being maintained however because of our growth and plans to grow further we actively looking to recruit great local talent who can support this. Staff wise, we are looking to expand the team by 8 new team members.”
The Cornish Business is looking for Full Time Salt Harvester and Production Operative which involves daily harvesting of the Sea Salt, maintaining high cleaning standards and procedures including paperwork to achieve quality guidelines. The roles offer competitive rate of pay above the national minimum wage, as well as increased pay for evening and weekend shift work.
There are also full-time and part time roles at the Gweek packing site that have flexible hours to work around home life, as well a bonus scheme.
