Heaton Mersey retirement community set to open by January 2022

Navendu Mishra MP visited the construction site for The Woodlands, a brand-new retirement development, on Woodlands Road in Heaton Mersey.

The MP donned a hard hat and high viz jacket to view plans for the 63 age-exclusive apartments with Adlington Retirement Living Construction Director Lee Pitchford and Site Manager Gareth Holdcroft.

Navendu Mishra commented: “I was delighted to visit the site of The Woodlands, an independent living development in Heaton Mersey. Once completed, the apartments and communal facilities will encourage retirees to maintain their independence and will have a real sense of community. This will be a welcome addition to the local area, I look forward to returning and meeting new homeowners when the project is completed.”

Lee Pitchford, Construction Director of Adlington Retirement Living, added: “It was a pleasure to welcome Mr Mishra to the site of our latest retirement community to view our progress with construction. Adlington’s vision is to empower our older generation to live a long, happy and healthy life. We do that by creating safe and secure environments with active communities, extensive facilities, and spacious, quality homes, providing an opportunity to enjoy retirement with a new perspective.”

The Woodlands, an Adlington Retirement Living community specially designed for those over the age of 55, is currently under construction and taking off-plan reservations.

A range of one, two and three bedroom apartments will include quality fitted kitchens with integrated appliances, many will feature en-suite shower rooms and separate bathrooms and most will have walk-on balconies or a patio area overlooking the beautifully landscaped gardens.

The communal facilities will include a hairdressing salon, therapy room, activities studio, and a guest suite, equipped with a kitchenette and en-suite, for visiting friends and family.

The 24-hour on-site support team will provide homeowners with added peace of mind and, if needed, the option of tailored personal care. In addition to this, there will be a sophisticated emergency call system and a security video entry system to manage access.

Four of Adlington’s sites have won Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards for the Best Retirement Development at the WhatHouse? Awards, the UK housebuilding’s most prestigious event. The Folds in Romiley and the Bridges in Macclesfield won the Silver Award in 2020 and 2019, Adlington House in Otley won the Gold Award in 2017 and Adlington House in Portishead won the Bronze Award in 2015.
