Ingram Micro makes bold sustainability pledge as first to sign up to unique marketing platform”

Ingram Micro UK today becomes the UK’s first technology distributor to sign up to Consenna’s Carbon platform. In doing so, it provides its network of resellers with free access to an extensive menu of self-serve sustainability focused marketing campaigns and access to a library of sustainability training. The move comes shortly after the distributor signed a ground-breaking agreement with Circular Computing to make remanufactured, carbon-neutral, laptops an integral part of its product offer.

Carbon was launched by Consenna in July to drive greater adoption of sustainability-focused sales, marketing and education activity throughout the IT channel. Crucially, it was developed to be free to access by the UK’s army of 10,000 MSPs, VARs and resellers to enable them to make a meaningful contribution to driving digital sustainability.

Ingram Micro has benchmarked its own global sustainability performance against the UN’s widely publicised Sustainable Development Goals and views the achievement of sustainable development as critical. At a practical level, responsible purchasing is one of its key focus areas and is a factor which has driven its decision to onboard its resellers to the Carbon platform as Ingram Micro Senior Commercial Director Michael Farrah explains:

“Sustainability is very high on Ingram Micro’s agenda, and we want to support both our vendors and partners with the articulation of their sustainability messaging. Our partnership with Consenna Carbon is fundamental in this process. Our partners will have the ability to run bespoke campaigns, access a library of sustainability messaging and track results. They’ll also be able to choose their campaigns, schedule them and run them with an exceptionally light touch.

“We are proud to have been chosen as Consenna’s distributor to launch the Carbon platform with. We are very excited for the journey ahead and the positive impact it will have on the channel as a whole.”

Ingram Micro is already in the process of on-boarding five vendors to Carbon, all of which have excellent sustainability messaging. The first two of these are Circular Computing and Fairphone, with all of Ingram Micro’s resellers able to choose which campaigns they want to run and which audiences they wish to reach.

Commenting on the partnership between Ingram Micro and Consenna Carbon, Simon Yates Consenna’s Chief Operating Officer says:

“In launching Carbon, we were clear that the entire channel has a role to play in addressing the negative impact that the IT sector has on the planet. None of this needs to be difficult or time-consuming, but it does require genuine commitment and so we are delighted that Ingram Micro has stepped up as our first distribution partner.

“Ingram Micro is a business that has already made bold steps towards greater levels of sustainable action and it’s great that two of the first campaigns it will offer to its network of resellers via Carbon are Circular Computing and Fairphone, both true sustainability trailblazers.”
