London firm supports launch of new storage facility in Sheffield

A self storage firm is to open its biggest nationwide premises in Sheffield.

The firm, UK Storage Company, has 27 stores across the country and will open its first South Yorkshire operation totalling approximately 15,000 sq ft in early 2022.

London-based Paloma Capital, who owns the 463,000 sq ft estate, has worked with asset managers Howlings Hodgson, Knight Frank in Sheffield and Wakefield architect The Harris Partnership to deliver the unit for UK Storage Company Ltd.

John Lamb from UK Storage Company Ltd said: “We saw the site, which was in the perfect position for us with access to the M1 motorway and Sheffield city centre. The former unit on the site was dilapidated and Paloma were looking at redevelopment of the site.

“Following our interest, they agreed to tailor the new unit on site to suit our requirements, including higher eaves to allow us to install multiple floors, an impressive entrance with canopy and secure yard.”

Rebecca Schofield, head of industrial in Yorkshire at Knight Frank, who acted for Paloma Capital, said: “It is great to see this part of the estate redeveloped and welcome UK Storage Company to the estate.

“Paloma has invested heavily in the estate upgrading and redeveloping the estate. The estate is ideally located and proves a popular location for occupiers to consider.”
