A Million Dreams Charity Ball raises £21k

Simpson Millar donates funds raised to CBIT, Mesothelioma UK and the Seashell Trust

A charity ball hosted by law firm Simpson Millar has raised more than £21k in funds which will be donated to the Child Brain Injury Trust, Mesothelioma UK, and the Seashell Trust.

Working in partnership with main sponsors Premex+, a leading provider of independent medical reports, the A Million Dreams Charity Ball welcomed guests to The Edwardian Manchester hotel on Thursday 9th September for an evening of entertainment including live music and an auction.

This was the second charity ball hosted by Simpson Millar, and the first since the start of the pandemic.

In 2019 the inaugural event raised £19k which was donated to charities Headway and the Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT) - both of which provide practical support, information, and learning opportunities for families and professionals affected by brain injuries across the UK.

Speaking of event Caroline Fox, a Partner and serious injury expert at Simpson Millar, said: “We were delighted that our charity ball was able to ahead this year, and that we were able to raise such a staggering amount for the Child Brain Injury Trust, Mesothelioma UK and the Seashell Trust.

“The last 18 months has been particularly challenging for charities, many of which rely on events such as ours to raise much needed funds to be able to carry out the vital work that they do.

“These are three causes that we’re really passionate about supporting because we work with clients who benefit from the services these charities offer every day.”

Child Brain Injury Trust provides a dedicated service to children and families affected by childhood acquired brain injury right across the UK.

This includes practical and emotional support for families, information and learning opportunities for families and professionals interested in finding out more about childhood brain injury, and how to support children with an acquired brain injury so they can live their best life.

Mesothelioma UK provides specialist information, support and education about mesothelioma - an asbestos-related cancer. The charity is also passionate about improving care and treatment for mesothelioma patients and their carers across the UK.

They work closely with the NHS to make sure that patients are getting the specialist services they need.

Seashell Trust delivers education, care and support to children and young people with complex needs and communication challenges. They’re dedicated to making schools, colleges and residential care homes a ‘creative, happy and secure environment’ for those they support.

The programmes they deliver aim to encourage independence and build the confidence and self-esteem of the children and young people they work with.

Caroline Fox added: “It was hugely disappointing to have to cancel last year’s event due to Covid, and so we are delighted that this year’s ball was able to go ahead – with a few additional safety measures in place, of course.

“Our team and our guests had a wonderful night and we’re already looking forward to planning for 2022.”
