Buildbase revamps bursary to turnaround fortunes of more non-league clubs
Buildbase is giving more non-league clubs a chance to transform their facilities with the launch of a new renovation bursary.
Ten prizes of £10,000 worth of building materials are up for grabs this year, offering clubs all of the materials they need to totally transform their kitchen or changing rooms, from flooring and tiles to appliances and toilets.
Buildbase is looking for projects that will really make a difference such as new changing rooms for female teams, toilets for disabled fans or renovating a kitchen to support a local community project.
The Buildbase Non-league Club Renovation programme is open to all clubs taking part in the Buildbase FA Trophy and Vase competitions. Clubs have until 31 January 2022 to apply online at Buildbase.co.uk.
Clubs will be encouraged to get fans to support their application through the Buildbase website and social media. The club with the most votes will score a ‘golden winning ticket’.
Judges from Buildbase and the FA will select the remaining nine winners. They will be looking for clubs that can best demonstrate the positive change the transformation would have on both the club and the community.
Winners will be informed in February 2022 and will have nine months to complete their project.
The competition replaces the existing programme, which Buildbase has been running since it became the title sponsor of the FA Trophy and Vase in 2016 and last year gave away two prizes of £25,000 worth of building materials.
As well as giving more clubs a chance to win, the new competition is easier to enter with a simplified process.
Over the coming weeks Buildbase branches across England will be helping clubs to plan and cost their projects. The merchant is offering trade prices on building materials to clubs taking part in the Buildbase FA Trophy and Vase.
Paul Roche, Managing Director at Buildbase said: “We’ve been running the bursary for several years and new changing rooms and kitchens are the most common need and the areas that really seem to make a difference. We hope that more smaller prizes will be attractive and enable us to turnaround the fortunes of many more non league clubs.”
Buildbase Non League Ambassador and talkSPORT presenter Tony Incenzo will be helping to raise awareness of the programme and encouraging clubs to apply. He said:
“This really is the perfect prize for non-league clubs around the country. Every club is striving to improve their facilities all the time – for the benefit of their fans and the local community projects that they embrace. It is great that the Buildbase bursary is supporting non-league football at a time when money is tight for clubs due to the effects of the pandemic.”
