Pioneering Porsche retail format opens in York
A new Porsche Centre has opened this week in York. This latest addition to the UK network is designed to support its larger, parent Porsche Centre in Leeds. The 567 sq m showroom and workshop in York offers space for four cars and a service department with six work bays.
The Stuttgart sports car manufacturer continues to explore new formats in auto retail, and drive customer satisfaction in imaginative ways. Working together with the team at Porsche Centre Leeds, the ‘satellite’ Centre in York will enable Porsche to better serve its customers in the region, in particular by expanding the after-sales capacity as the appeal of the range continues to grow. The new, all-electric Taycan and Taycan Cross Turismo have become the most popular models in the year to date, and this is reflected in the Centre facilities which feature six charging stations to support the innovative 800V infrastructure of the four-door sports car.
Starting last winter, the construction work took around nine months to complete. Porsche Centre York is a significant investment in the local area, and a clear demonstration of the commitment by the company to owners and fans in the North.
Porsche Centre York is located close to the city centre at York Business Park on the A1237 outer ring road at Nether Poppleton, within easy reach of the A59 and A19. Its prime location alongside a major road around the city means it will serve as a window into the world of the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer, a marque that has fascinated car enthusiasts since 1948.
As Porsche cars embody long-held principles of intelligent performance, so too the building incorporates cutting edge design and energy efficiency measures. The architecture reflects an evolution of the Porsche corporate identity that now features an exterior aluminium façade with highlight LED strips and logo. Inside, a racing line layout acts as a guide through the showroom along which customers can explore the sales and aftersales areas.
In addition, there is capacity to display up to 25 Porsche Approved Pre-Owned vehicles.
Customers will be able to enjoy a variety of services and support facilities including:
- Six bay workshop
- MOT bay
- Four-wheel alignment bay and ‘driver assist’ calibration bay
- Porsche Direct Dialogue Service bay to support quick, on-the-spot diagnosis
- Dedicated electric vehicle charging bays
- Executive lounge area
- ‘Smart Energy’ building management system and full LED lighting
The Centre also offers a service loan fleet and range of Porsche demonstrators. In additional, local delivery and collection will be available to ensure any servicing or repairs are conducted with minimal inconvenience to the customer.
John Tordoff, chief executive of JCT600, said: “The opening of Porsche Centre York is another key milestone in our 50 year-plus relationship with this coveted and iconic marque, marking the fifth Porsche Centre we have brought to customers in the region.
“Continued and growing demand for the Porsche range of beautiful, high-performance sports cars has led to the development of Centres in Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle and Teesside, accessible to people across Yorkshire and the North East.
“As one of the German company’s longest standing sales partners in the UK, we are particularly proud that Porsche Centre York reflects the latest architectural design, enabling customers to enjoy the benefits of state-of-the-art facilities in a stylish setting.”
