Specsavers Team Overcome Endurance Challenge to Raise £3,000 for Charity

STAFF FROM the Specsavers Kingswood store on Althorp Road have raised £3,280 for The Brain Tumour Charity after the team took part in a gruelling Tough Mudder challenge to test their fitness and endurance.

Following weeks of training - come rain or shine - the 9-strong team were hoping to raise £1,000 for the Brain Tumour Charity, but their target was smashed in a matter of days, thanks to an upswell of support from friends, family, colleagues and customers.

The Brain Tumour Charity helps to provide pastoral support for families and to those suffering with a brain tumour and dealing with the after effects.

David Proudfoot, the store’s director, said the team were blown away by the support.

David commented: “It’s evident just how much good work The Brain Tumour Charity undertakes for those dealing with the condition and their families.

“As brain tumours are something we can detect when providing optical services to the community in and around Hull, it’s something which has always been close to the team, as a result in our work in optometry.

“We expected to raise a good amount from the community, but we’ve been absolutely blown away by how much we’ve raised! Although we were definitely aching over the days afterwards, the team, which included myself, Georgia, James, Dave, Annabelle, Emily, Shaun, Helen, Matty and Darren, should all be extremely proud of ourselves in the achievement.”
