New appointments for financial services experts as part of growth plans

Two new appointments have joined leading Brierley Hill financial services company Abacus Wealth Services Ltd as part of plans to set up the company for further growth.

Helen Spicer joined the company, in Two Woods Lane, as Operations Manager, after having been an office manager for NHS Blood and Transplant, based in Birmingham, while Mike Round has come on board in the role of Financial Adviser following a successful career in commercial partnerships which included time working in Australian sport.

Abacus Wealth Services have grown their reputation since 2001 for providing individually tailored financial solutions to meet client needs and delivering high standards of customer service.

As Appointed Representatives of St. James’s Place Wealth Management, the Abacus team of financial advisers have the knowledge and resources to help clients plan towards their financial goals.

With a team of 11 staff, Abacus are building upon their heritage with these new appointments, which have been made as part of business plans to achieve further growth.

For Black Country-raised Mike Round, the move to join Abacus feels like a “move home” as it comes after time in Australia, including working as the Commercial Director of A-League football team Sydney FC. His father Nigel is the Managing Director of Abacus Wealth Services, so Mike believes he can add to the “family approach” the company maintains to support clients.

Mike, who worked as a tax adviser and management consultant for Deloitte earlier in his career, said: “Abacus is a business which helps families, with several clients being part of family companies which have worked with us over several generations. I have grown up with my dad working as a financial adviser so I have seen the value which good financial advice can bring people.

“I want to help the business grow and take it to the next level to help build on the work of the advisers already in place, increasing the number of people who can access good financial advice.”

Operations Manager Helen Spicer, who will be responsible for the day to day running of the office and administration side, is looking to build on her experience managing teams in the NHS. She said: “I will also be working with the senior management team to achieve their goal of continued growth for Abacus, which I am excited about.

“I was looking for a new challenge and wanted to solidify my understanding of operations management in this new role. My aim to reassure clients every step of the way so they understand you are making them a priority.”

MD Nigel Round said the new appointments were part of ongoing growth plans for Abacus Wealth Services. He said: “We are keen to build on our success and see these new appointments as complementing the strengths of our business. Our customers appreciate the personal touch to our work which helps us stand out, so adding to the team will further improve our client services.”
