IoD appoints Dr Shaun Davis as Berkshire chair
The Institute of Directors (IoD) has appointed Dr Shaun Davis to lead its Berkshire branch.
Shaun is Global Director, Compliance and Sustainability, for Royal Mail Group, with responsibilities including safety, health and wellbeing.
The IoD supports members to become better directors. Shaun will work alongside a team of branch ambassadors to provide connections, professional development opportunities and an influential lobbying voice in the area.
Shaun joined Royal Mail Group in 2012 and has directed improvement programmes in areas including accident prevention, mental health, musculoskeletal issues and challenges affecting an ageing workforce. Before joining Royal Mail, he worked in the construction, refurbishment, infrastructure and waste management sectors.
Shaun is a Chartered Director with six masters degrees and a doctorate in coaching and mentoring. He is an Honorary Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham’s School of Medicine and a published author in respected journals and publications.
He said: “I hold the IoD in the highest regard and playing my role in its ongoing success is a privilege. I am hugely supportive of governance, leadership, organisational sustainability and responsible business. This is an exciting opportunity to share my views and learn more, whilst also applying my IoD qualifications and Chartered Director status.”
Shaun succeeds Raj Singh, who stepped down as chair upon completion of his three-year term.
Raj Singh said: “The last three years have been an exciting journey. The pandemic tested our resilience but brought us closer together. As the Berkshire director community, we used this as an opportunity to innovate, collaborate and transform our businesses. I am proud of what we achieved together. As a prominent business organisation, we influenced Berkshire economic growth while keeping diversity and inclusion at the top of our agenda.”
Faisal Khan, regional director of IoD South, added: “I am thrilled and delighted to welcome Shaun to the team. Not only does he have an exemplary track record of academic achievement, he also has a wealth of practical experience as a director of a FTSE100 company. As a Chartered Director, he will bring immense value to the IoD Berkshire branch and IoD South region.”
