Grant Thornton adds strength and depth to central region tax team with senior appointments and promotions
Leading business advisory firm Grant Thornton UK LLP has bolstered its team of senior tax specialists active across the Midlands, Milton Keynes and the East of England, as it continues to see rising demand for specialist tax advice in the mid-market.
Yvonne Chappell has been promoted to Partner in the Central England tax team following 20 years with the firm, during which she has led the travel, tourism and leisure departments and become a specialist in international corporate tax.
Jack Newton, who joined the firm as a graduate in 2006, has been made Tax Director. Jack’s development at Grant Thornton has seen him become the lead on corporate buy side transaction tax in the region, with over 10 years’ experience specialising in tax due diligence and structuring services.
Both Yvonne and Jack are based in Milton Keynes and operate across the whole of the Central England region, including the Midlands, Milton Keynes and Cambridge.
Jonathan Saliba has also joined Grant Thornton as Associate Director to lead the Innovation Tax team across the Central England region. Previously Jonathan spent five years at another major accountancy firm, developing specific R&D tax relief expertise in the manufacturing and engineering sectors.
His recruitment follows the appointment of Rob Outram as the firm’s new regional Head of VAT.
Hazel Platt, Corporate Tax Partner & Head of Tax for the Central Region at Grant Thornton, said: “We’re seeing a huge demand for specialist tax services across the Midlands, Milton Keynes and the East of England, driven by a buoyant deals market, new opportunities arising from developments like the recent changes to R&D tax credits, and the ongoing growth of cities like Cambridge as investment hotspots.
“These promotions and new hires reflect our commitment to continually adding depth and specialist expertise to the team so we remain the first choice provider of advice to ambitious mid-market businesses.”
Karen Campbell-Williams, Head of Tax at Grant Thornton UK LLP, added: “As we’ve emerged into the post-pandemic, post-Brexit landscape, the demand for high quality tax advice has never been stronger. Our Central England region specialist tax team is committed to helping to unlock the full potential of the region’s businesses and I’m delighted to welcome more fantastic talent to the business and to reward the exceptional work of those who are continuing to push the tax business forward.”
