Leeds welcomes new £1m “multisensory” waterfront café bar

Granary Wharf is set to welcome a new café bar and club to its central Leeds waterfront location, further extending its reputation as one of the city’s “premier entertainment hot spots”.

Launching next month, Canal Club is set to deliver live music, a range of food options, and “inventive” cocktails.

A statement from Canal Club reads: “With Covid changing the way we socialise, more people are choosing to come together during the day for a bite to eat with friends, whilst soaking up a party vibe.

“Inspired by pre-COVID globetrotting to iconic party hotspots such as Havana, LA and Miami, Canal Club ticks all the boxes.”

The Canal café will open its doors in Spring 2022, offering guests a selection of coffees as well as breakfast options and sweet treats.

Operations director Jade Renner said: “We’ve put a lot of thought into Canal Club. From how we want it to look to the type of food and drinks we’re choosing to serve, no stone has been left unturned.

“The pandemic gave us time to think about what it is that people are looking for when they socialise now.”

£1m has been invested in Canal Club to create a multisensory space. Living walls and ceilings, dripping with palm leaves and bougainvillaea are peppered throughout, whilst neon signage, twinkling lights and kitsch furnishings mean that “no two tables are alike”.

Jade continued: “We want to look after our guests so the seated table service enables us to offer everyone the opportunity to unwind, without having to take it in turns to go up to the bar. It’s an eclectic space, with lots of picture-perfect fixtures and fittings.

“A programme of live music and entertainment has been planned for Canal Club, based within walking distance of Leeds train station. From acoustic bands to soundtrack your bottomless brunch, through to DJs that will ramp things up a notch as the day transitions into night, this is the new daytime destination Leeds has been waiting for.”
